Your Help Button — The Full Guide 🆘

What it does, what the lights mean, and what to do — in plain words.

What is this?

It is a help button. When you press it, it calls your people — the family or friends you picked. A friendly voice tells them you need help. It also texts them your home address (if you saved one). You do not need to find a phone. You just press the button.

What happens when I press it?

🚨 Every press is real. There is no “practice press” on the button. Pressed it by mistake? Don’t worry — just answer when your people call and say “I’m OK.” Pressing it many times fast does NOT make extra calls.

What the lights mean

Both glow for 1 second Just plugged in. Power is on and both lights work — like a car dashboard check.
Red, steady It is waking up and looking for your Wi-Fi. Wait a little.
Green blinks 12 times It found your Wi-Fi. Ready to go.
No lights All good. It is quiet and watching, ready for a press.
Red, 2 little blinks every 3 seconds No Wi-Fi right now. It keeps trying to reconnect all by itself. If this never stops, check your internet.
Green, solid under your finger It got you. The moment you press, the green turns on and stays on while you touch it.
Green blinking after you let go Calling your people right now. It keeps blinking the whole time it calls.
Green, steady for 1 minute A real person answered. Help is on the way. 💚
Green and red, back and forth It called everyone, every try — nobody answered. It will NOT stop flashing until you press again. Press again, or use a phone to call 911.
Red blinking fast after you press Your press did not go out yet. It keeps trying for 2 minutes. If it turns green — it made it! If it ends with a long red — it never went out. Use a phone.

How do I test it?

📞 On your phone, go to buttoncaller.com. Type your phone number to sign in. Tap “Test — call my phone now.” Your own phone rings with the test voice. Nobody else gets called. Do this once a month!

How do I change who it calls?

Same place: buttoncaller.com → sign in with your phone number → open My setup. You can change names, numbers, and the message. Tap Save when done.

Moving? New Wi-Fi? New house?

The button will blink red because it can’t find the old Wi-Fi. Do this:

⚠️ Holding 10 seconds while the button is working (lights quiet) still sends a real alert first — your people get called. That’s on purpose: a press is never ignored. Setting up with no calls? Use the unplug-and-hold way.

What if the power goes out?

Nothing to do. When power comes back, the button fixes itself: red light while it waits for your Wi-Fi to wake up, then 12 green blinks when it’s ready again.

It watches itself, too

The button quietly says “I’m alive” to our computer every 10 minutes. If it goes silent for over an hour (unplugged, or the internet is out), you get a text message so you know the button would not work right now.

Quick questions

The red light is blinking and never stops.

Your Wi-Fi is off or too far away. Check your internet box (router). Unplug the router, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in.

I pressed it and got the fast red blinks.

It couldn’t send yet. It keeps trying for 2 minutes by itself. Green = it made it. Long red at the end = it never went out — use a phone to call for help.

The green and red keep flashing back and forth.

Nobody answered your last press. Press the button again to call everyone again — or call 911 on a phone.

Can I unplug it at night?

Please don’t. It only works when it is plugged in. It uses less power than a night light.

I want it to call different people.

Go to buttoncaller.com, sign in with your phone number, open My setup, and change the list.
